6 Medals at the Acro European Championships!

Four partnerships from Spelthorne have just finished competing at the European Championships in Pesaro, Italy and WOW what amazing results for the club. In total 3 partnerships made the finals and we totalled 6 European medals.

The competition began with the age group gymnasts. On 21st September the 11-17 Women’s Group and 12-19 Women’s Pair flew to Italy and began training, ready to start competing for team GB on 24th September. After keeping their nerve, it resulted in a European bronze medal for Rosie, Ruby and Amy-Jules (11-17 WG). After gaining invaluable experience at the World Championships earlier on in the year it was great to see the girl’s determination and hard work in training over the last few months and we were delighted when they came away with a medal. Amy and Charlotte (12-19 WP) did a superb dynamic routine, showing Europe they are 2nd best in dynamic, with an overall 12th place. Well done girls!

On Monday 27th September it was time for the boys in our Junior and Senior Men’s Groups to fly to Italy, and with a quick turnaround the competition began on the 29th. A nail biting few days later and the boys delivered amazing results for the club. The Junior Men’s Group of Jack, Ethan, Jack and Cameron came away with a Silver medal for their balance routine, a Bronze medal for their dynamic routine and the overall Silver European medal!
Last but not least was our Senior Men’s 4 Andrew, Finlay, Bradley and Archie competing in the hardest category against very difficult competition. They came away with a silver medal for their dynamic routine, a bronze medal for their balance routine and 5th overall.

Unfortunately, due to injury the 13-20 Women’s group Saskia, Sasha and Lily had to withdraw, but well done for getting selected girls.

A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to all the Spelthorne competitors, you have done the club very proud, and we can’t wait to see you compete again!
