Intermediate
- Intermediate Gymnastics classes are by invitation only
- These classes are a step-up from our General Gymnastics classes
- The gymnasts progress from our General Gymnastics’ classes or arrive from other clubs into this program
- Gymnasts attend once a week, or up to 4 times a week
- We offer 3 different intermediate levels dependant on age
– Intermediate 1 for children in Reception and Year 1
– Intermediate 2 for children in Year 2 and Year 3
– Intermediate 3 for children in year 4 plus
Advanced
- Advanced Gymnastics classes are by invitation only
- These classes are a step-up from our Intermediate Gymnastics classes
- The gymnasts progress from our Intermediate Gymnastics classes or
from other clubs into this program - Gymnasts represent Spelthorne Gymnastics at competitions (initially
tumbling) and events such as Gymfusion (https://www.british-
gymnastics.org/news-and-events/national-events/gymfusion) and local
displays/fairs - This program has set training days and you have to attend all sessions
available for the group that you are invited to - We offer 6 different levels
- Pre-Advanced 1
Roughly Reception, Year 1
Once a week for 1 hour - Pre-Advanced 2
Roughly Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
Once a week for 1.5 hours - Pre-Advanced 3
Roughly Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5
Twice a week for 3 hours - Pre-Advanced 4
Roughly Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6
Twice a week for 3.5 hours - Junior Advanced
Roughly Year 5+
Twice a week for 4 hours - Senior Advanced
Roughly Year 6+
Three times a week for 6 hours

Squad
All our squads are by invitation only, and on the discretion of our senior coaching
team. An invitation and trial are required for entry.
Spelthorne Gymnastics offers the following squads:
Mini Squads
- These are preparation squads that are developing skills for possible
selection into the Acrobatics or Tumbling competitive squads - Boys and Girls are aged from Reception to Year 2
- The group is split into 2 age groups:
- Minis
Reception aged children
Twice a week for 1 hour, 2 hours in total - Advanced Minis
Year 1 – Year 2 aged children
Train 3 days a week for 1 hour 30 mins, 4 hours, and 30 minutes in
total
- Minis
- Gymnasts in our mini squads take part in both internal and external
displays and club competitions. These events are compulsory for the
squad gymnasts
Preparation Squads (Acrobatics & Tumbling)
- These are competitive squads that are developing skills for possible
selection into the Acrobatics or Tumbling competitive squads - Boys and Girls are aged from Year 3 to Year 6
- Gymnasts train 3 days a week, 6 hours in total
- Gymnasts in our prep squad take part in displays and tumbling
competitions both internally and externally. These events are compulsory
for the squad gymnasts
Acrobatic Gymnastics Squads
- These are competitive squads, competing regionally, nationally, and
internationally. These competitions are compulsory for squad gymnasts - Year 2+
- We have 4 Acro squads
- They train between 10 and 20+ hours a week dependant on the group
- They focus on the National Development Plan grades 1-5, IDP 1 and 2,
FIG 11-16, 12-18, 13-19 and Senior - Our Elite Acro squads regularly trial and compete for the Great Britain
squad - The club has produced World, European and British Champions in
Acrobatic Gymnastics at both NDP and FIG level. - The club prepares the gymnasts through the national development
program and has produced many national champions. The gymnasts
compete at regional and national levels during this process. - They also take part in external and internal displays, which are compulsory
as part of the squad
Tumbling Squads
- This is a competitive squad, competing regionally, nationally, and
internationally. These competitions are compulsory for squad gymnasts - Tumblers start from Year 2 upwards
- We have 3 tumbling squads
- They train between 6 and 10 hours a week dependant on the group
- Our Elite tumbling squads trial and compete for the Home Nation and
Great Britain squads - The Club has produced World, European and British medallists in this
discipline at FIG and NDP levels. - The club also prepares gymnasts at Regional and National levels.
- The tumblers also take part in external and internal displays, which are
compulsory as part of the squad
