Goodbye and Good Luck!

There are many reasons why people are attracted to Spelthorne Gymnastics Club. Not just gymnasts but also parents, members of the local community and fellow lovers of the sport.

Our gymnasts never fail to captivate the audience and we enjoy watching them all, from preschool to elite, seeing them perform and enjoy what they do best. But with the style, performance and skill of these gymnasts in particular, we are in awe- Yes I am talking about our Senior Men’s Four. The highlight is seeing exactly what can be achieved if you make it to the heights like these boys have.

These four young men have travelled the world representing Team GB, gaining titles along the way on the World, European and British stage. We of course are very proud to have these boys representing Spelthorne and making a name for the sport. Their work and training ethic shows what can be achieved if you put in the hours and dedication like these boys do. Not only are we exceptionally proud of these boys but British Gymnastics have also recognised the success of Lewis, Connor, Charlie and Adam.

The 2017 National Awards celebrated the achievements of elite gymnasts and coaches. Acrobatic Gymnastics for once standing tall next to Artistic Gymnastics and other disciplines.

Outstanding Athlete of the Year Award
“This award recognises an individual from the British Gymnastics high performance programmes who has produced outstanding international results. This year two awards will be given acknowledging the ‘Outstanding Athlete of the Year’, one in an Olympic discipline and one in a Non-Olympic discipline”

Lewis, Connor, Charlie and Adam were the winners in the “Non Olympic Discipline Category”

British Gymnastics recognising their phenomenal achievements: “Taking a sensational gold medal at the 2017 World Games in Poland and then travelled home to win the British title just days later”.

Along with this fantastic news comes the sad news that the boys are retiring after 6 long years of competing. But what a way to step down, with this award from British Gymnastics and a silver medal at the European Championships- Congratulations Boys, we will miss you but we wish you all the success in the future. With the discipline, determination and skills learnt through gymnastics we have no doubt your future goals will be no less than bright!

Xoxo

Now time to look back at your journey..
